Strings

Violin:

Major scales, 2 octaves required, 3 preferable: G, C, D.

The A Major scale (3 octive) with arpeggio and the melodic minor scale (2 octave) and arpeggio of the students choice.  (slurred 4 for the scales and 3 for the arpeggio)

D Major scale (2 octave) with arpeggio and the melodic minor scale (1 octave) and arpeggio of the students choice.  (all 2 octave, slurred 4 for the scales and 3 for the arpeggio) 

1-2 minutes of a selection of the students choice:

•Vivaldi - Violin Concerto in A Minor, Op. 3, No. 6:  movements 1 or 3

•Handel - Violin Sonata in F Major:  movement 1

•Mozart - Violin Sonata in E Minor:  movement 1

•Or piece of equivalent or greater difficulty

Viola:

Major scales, 2 octaves: G, C, D.

C Major scale (3 octave or 2 octave) with arpeggio and the melodic minor scale (2 octave or 1 octave) and arpeggio of the students choice.  (slurred 4 for the scales and 3 for the arpeggio)

1-2 minutes of a selection of the students choice:

•Telemann - Viola Concerto in G Major:  movement 4

•Marcello - Sonata in E Minor:  movement 2

•Bach - Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major:  Courante

•Or piece of equivalent or greater difficulty

Cello:

Major Scales, C and D (2 octaves required, 3 preferable), G (2 octaves).

C Major scale (3 octave or 2 octave) with arpeggio and the melodic minor scale (2 octave or 1 octave) and arpeggio of the students choice.  (slurred 4 for the scales and 3 for the arpeggio) 

1-2 minutes of a selection of the students choice:

•Bach - Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major:  Courante

•Breval - Sonata in C Major:  movement 1

•Grieg - Cello Sonata in A Minor:  movement 1

•Or piece of equivalent or greater difficulty

Bass:

Major scales, 2 octaves: E, F, G.

•Bach - Gavotte

•Marcello - Sonata in E Minor:  movement 2
